29. ఆశ్చర్యవత్ పశ్యతి కష్చిదేనమ్ ఆశ్చర్యవద్ వదతి తథైవ చాన్య: |
ఆశ్చర్యవచ్చైనమన్య: శ్రుణోతి శ్రుత్వాప్యేనం వేదం న చైవ కశ్చిత్ ||
🌷. తాత్పర్యం :
కొందరు ఆత్మను అధ్బుతమైనదానిగా గాంచుదురు. కొందరు దానిని అధ్బుతమైన దానిగా వర్ణింతురు. మరికొందరు దానిని అధ్బుతమైనదానిగా శ్రవణము చేయుదురు. ఇంకొందరు శ్రవణము చేసినను దానిని గూర్చి ఏ మాత్రము తెలియకుందురు.
🌷. భాష్యము :
అధికపరిమాణ దేహము గల జంతువునందు మరియు ఘనమైన అశ్వత్థవృక్షమునందే గాక, ఒక అంగుళమాత్ర స్థలములో కోట్లాది సంఖ్యలో నుండు సూక్ష్మజీవుల యందును ఆత్మ ఉన్నదనెడు విషయము నిక్కముగా అధ్బుతమైనది. అల్పజ్ఞులు మరియు తపోనిష్ట లేనివారు ఇట్టి ఆత్మ యొక్క అధ్బుతకర్మలను తెలియకున్నారు. విశ్వమునందు తొలిజీవియైన బ్రహ్మదేవునకు సైతము జ్ఞానము ప్రసాదించిన పరమప్రామణికుడైన శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుడే స్వయముగా ఉపదేశించినను వారు ఆ విషయమును గ్రహింపజాలరు.
కేవలము భౌతికభావనయే కలిగియుండుట వలన ఎట్లు అణుపరిమాణ ఆత్మ అతిపెద్దదిగా మరియు అతి చిన్నదిగా వర్తింపగలదో ఈ కాలపు జనులు ఊహింపజాలరు. కనుకనే వారు దాని నిర్మాణరీత్యా లేదా వర్ణనరీత్యా అధ్బుతమైనదిగా గాంతురు. భౌతికశక్తిచే మోహమునకు గురియై జనులు ఇంద్రియభోగ విషయములందే అధికముగా రతులగుదురు.
ఆత్మానుభవమును పొందకున్నచో కర్మలన్నియును జీవనసంఘర్షణలో అంత్యమున ఓటమినే కలుగజేయుననుట వాస్తవమైనను వారు దాని కొరకై సమయమును కేటాయింపరు. ప్రతియొక్కరు ఆత్మను గూర్చి తెలిసికొని తద్ద్వారా భౌతికక్లేశములను పరిష్కారము చూపవలెనని వారు బహుషా తెలిసియుండకపోవచ్చును.
ఆత్మను గూర్చి వినగోరిన కొందరు సత్సంగమున ప్రవచనములను వినుచుందురు. కాని కొన్నిమార్లు అజ్ఞానవశమున వారు ఆత్మ మరియు పరమాత్మ లిరివురును ఒక్కటే యనియు, వారివురి నడుమ పరిమాణమందును భేదము లేదనియు భావించి తప్పుమార్గమున చనుదురు. ఆత్మ మరియు పరమాత్మల నిజస్థితిని, వారి కర్మల, వారి నడుమ గల సంబంధమును, వారికి సంబంధించిన విషయముల నన్నింటిని సంపూర్తిగా తెలిసిన మనుజుడు దుర్లభుడు.
ఇది ఇట్లుండగా ఆత్మజ్ఞానము నుండి సంపూర్ణ లాభమును పొంది, ఆత్మ యొక్క స్థానమును వివిధకోణముల ద్వారా వివరింపగలిగిన మహాత్ముడు మరింత దుర్లభుడు. కాని ఏదియో ఒక విధముగా ఈ ఆత్మను గుర్చిన విషయమును మనుజుడు అవగతము చేసికొనినచో జన్మ సఫలము కాగలదు.

🌴 Chapter 2 - Sankhya Yoga - 29 🌴
29. āścarya-vat paśyati kaścid enam
āścarya-vad vadati tathaiva cānyaḥ
āścarya-vac cainam anyaḥ śṛṇoti
śrutvāpy enaṁ veda na caiva kaścit
🌻 Translation :
Some look on the soul as amazing, some describe him as amazing, and some hear of him as amazing, while others, even after hearing about him, cannot understand him at all.
🌻 Purport :
The fact that the atomic soul is within the body of a gigantic animal, in the body of a gigantic banyan tree, and also in the microbic germs, millions and billions of which occupy only an inch of space, is certainly very amazing.
Men with a poor fund of knowledge and men who are not austere cannot understand the wonders of the individual atomic spark of spirit, even though it is explained by the greatest authority of knowledge, who imparted lessons even to Brahmā, the first living being in the universe.
Owing to a gross material conception of things, most men in this age cannot imagine how such a small particle can become both so great and so small. So men look at the soul proper as wonderful either by constitution or by description.
Illusioned by the material energy, people are so engrossed in subject matters for sense gratification that they have very little time to understand the question of self-understanding, even though it is a fact that without this self-understanding all activities result in ultimate defeat in the struggle for existence. Perhaps they have no idea that one must think of the soul, and thus make a solution to the material miseries.
