02. . శ్రీభగవానువాచ
త్రివిధా భవతి శ్రద్ధా దేహినాం సా స్వభావజా |
సాత్త్వికీ రాజసీ చైవ తామసీ చేతి తాం శ్రుణు ||
🌷. తాత్పర్యం :
శ్రీకృష్ణభగవానుడు పలికెను : దేహధారి పొందిన త్రిగుణముల ననుసరించి శ్రద్ధ సాత్త్వికము, రాజసము, తామసము అనుచు మూడువిధములుగా నున్నది. ఈ విషయమును ఇప్పుడు ఆలకింపుము.
🌷. భాష్యము :
శాస్త్రపు విధినియమములను తెలిసియు బద్ధకత్వము లేదా సోమరితనము కారణముగా వానిని త్యజించు వాడు ప్రకృతి గుణములతో ప్రభావితుడైనట్టివాడు.
పూర్వజన్మమున సత్త్వరజస్తమో గుణములలో తామొనరించిన కర్మల ననుసరించి జీవులు వర్తమానమున ప్రత్యేక గుణమును పొందుచుందురు. ప్రకృతి త్రిగుణములతో జీవునకు గల ఈ సాంగత్యము అనంతకాలముగా సాగుచున్నది. అట్టి ప్రకృతి సంగత్వకారణముగా జీవుడు గుణసంబంధమున వివిధ స్వభావములను పొందుచుండును.
కాని అతడు ఆధ్యాత్మికగురువు యొక్క సాంగత్యము పొంది శాస్త్ర నియమనిబంధనలను పాటించినచో తన గుణస్వభావమును మార్చుకొనగలడు. అనగా మనుజడు క్రమముగా తమోగుణము నుండి సత్త్వగుణమునకు గాని, రజోగుణము నుండి సత్త్వగుణమునకు గాని తన స్థితిని మార్చుకొనగలడు.
సారాంశమేమనగా ఏదేని ఒక ప్రత్యేక గుణమునందలి గ్రుడ్డి నమ్మకము మనుజుని పూర్ణత్వస్థితికి గొనిపోలేదు. అతడు తప్పక ప్రతివిషయము శ్రద్ధ మరియు తెలివితో గురువు సమక్షమున పరిశీలించవలసియుండును. ఆ విధముగా అతడు తన స్థితిని ఉన్నతగుణమునకు మార్చుకొనగలడు.

02. . śrī-bhagavān uvāca
tri-vidhā bhavati śraddhā
dehināṁ sā svabhāva-jā
sāttvikī rājasī caiva
tāmasī ceti tāṁ śṛṇu
🌷 Translation :
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: According to the modes of nature acquired by the embodied soul, one’s faith can be of three kinds – in goodness, in passion or in ignorance. Now hear about this.
🌹 Purport :
Those who know the rules and regulations of the scriptures but out of laziness or indolence give up following these rules and regulations are governed by the modes of material nature. According to their previous activities in the mode of goodness, passion or ignorance, they acquire a nature which is of a specific quality.
The association of the living entity with the different modes of nature has been going on perpetually; since the living entity is in contact with material nature, he acquires different types of mentality according to his association with the material modes. But this nature can be changed if one associates with a bona fide spiritual master and abides by his rules and the scriptures.
Gradually, one can change his position from ignorance to goodness, or from passion to goodness. The conclusion is that blind faith in a particular mode of nature cannot help a person become elevated to the perfectional stage.
One has to consider things carefully, with intelligence, in the association of a bona fide spiritual master. Thus one can change his position to a higher mode of nature.
