12. లోభ: ప్రవృత్తిరారామ్భ: కర్మణామశమ: స్పృహా |
రజస్యేతాని జాయన్తే వివృద్దే భరతర్షభ ||
🌷. తాత్పర్యం : ఓ భరతవంశ శ్రేష్టుడా! రజోగుణము వృద్ధినొందినపుడు లోభము, కామ్యకర్మము, తీవ్రయత్నము, అణచసాధ్యముగాని కోరిక, తపన యను లక్షణములు వృద్ది నొందును.
🌷. భాష్యము : రజోగుణము నందున్నవాడు తాను పొందియున్న స్థితితో ఎన్నడును సంతృప్తినొందడు. దానిని వృద్ధిచేసికొనుటకు అతడు ఆకాంక్ష పడుచుండును. నివసించుటకు గృహమును నిర్మించదలచినచో తానా గృహమందు అనంతకాలము నివసింప బోవుచున్నట్లు రాజమహలు వంటి భవంతిని నిర్మింప శాయశక్తులు యత్నించును. ఇంద్రియ భోగానుభవమునకై తీవ్రమైన ఆకాంక్షను వృద్ధిచేసికొను అతని భోగములకు అంతమనునది ఉండదు.
ఇల్లు మరియు సంసారముతోడనే ఎల్లప్పుడును నిలిచి ఇంద్రియభోగానుభవమును కొనసాగించుటయే అతని కోరిక. ఆ కోరికకు త్రెంపు అనునది ఉండదు. ఈ చిహ్నములన్నింటిని రజోగుణ లక్షణములుగా అర్థము చేసికొనవలెను.

🌴 Chapter 14 - Gunatraya Vibhaga Yoga - Nature, 3 Gunas - 12 🌴
12. lobhaḥ pravṛttir ārambhaḥ karmaṇām aśamaḥ spṛhā
rajasy etāni jāyante vivṛddhe bharatarṣabha
🌷 Translation : O chief of the Bhāratas, when there is an increase in the mode of passion the symptoms of great attachment, fruitive activity, intense endeavor, and uncontrollable desire and hankering develop.
🌹 Purport : One in the mode of passion is never satisfied with the position he has already acquired; he hankers to increase his position. If he wants to construct a residential house, he tries his best to have a palatial house, as if he would be able to reside in that house eternally. And he develops a great hankering for sense gratification.
There is no end to sense gratification. He always wants to remain with his family and in his house and to continue the process of sense gratification. There is no cessation of this. All these symptoms should be understood as characteristic of the mode of passion.
